Introducing RioDB!
Less than one year ago, Serge and Lucio met in Walnut Creek, California, to discuss a new service for real-time analytics. Now here we are, thrilled to embark on this journey with you. RioDB is finally as a FREE software. The name “RioDB” suggests a database system for interacting with a “river of data”. (“Rio” means “river” in some Latin-based languages).
Many developers know what is like to work with a database and query data from a table. For example, ask the database “How many users have viewed this t-shirt on my online store during the last one minute? And how many viewed these shorts? And how many viewed these socks?” If that information is important for some kind of automated workflow, the developer may consider running the query again and again in a loop.
That’s where stream processing comes in. Instead of “asking” a database again and again in a loop, you can ask a stream processor “Tell me when any product is viewed by more than one thousand users within a minute.” And done! The stream processor will take care of monitoring the data and it will tell you when the request is met. Stream processors are much more efficient for querying data that is changing constantly and fast, which translates to better results, and faster, while using far less system resources.
RioDB is a stream processor built for the “tell me when” scenario. But it’s not like other stream processors. It’s extremely efficient, FREE, and super easy to use.
